Maybe this isn't the big update? Maybe this is something they were supposed to put into the game from release, but coldn't fit it in due to time constrictions?

Actually, it is possible to get r9 Sunspear. On GuildWiki it says that you have to exploit enemy monks who ressurect their fallen allies in order to get r9. In other words, once you achieve r8, you have to stay in the same zone and repeatedly kill the same enemies over and over and over again and let their monk allies ressurect them each time you kill them until you farm the correct amount of points for r9.

Very boring.

Gaile was talking about a new way to reach r9. Or, let's say, a way without using an exploit.

And a way for people who already got r8 and went out of zone.

Gaile said in one of the threads in relation to the DoA update that this was indeed the "BIG ONE". Look in the Dev Tracker section, it was probably quoted there.

As in the update section on Guild Wars .com, any cloned or reserructed enemies no longer give lightbringer or sunspear points. So those of us who are stuck at lvl 8 are gonna have to wait. I tried the method on Wiki and it doesn't work now.

This can't be the definite update.
Most probably schedules are suffocating them, and they just set wht they have, instead of apologizing and saying they'll be late.

I don't mind having to wait a month or two more to get things done right. Why do they hurry so much?

Gaile has stated that they are indeed going to add some new stuff for rank 9, etc and because that is still in progress it has not yet been added to the game.

I seriously think our inability to obtain rank9 legitimately by now was a bug that Anet refuses to admit to, and they won't fix it because that would be an admission of guilt. gg

Actually I've already seen someone with the R9 sunspear title so I know it's possible but I don't know hos.

It was possible if you were r7 and killed guys who rezed themselves. If you're r8 though you can't get any points.

For now the only ones able to get past R9 legemitaly are the ones who started in Nightfall. I have a Dervish that is rank 9 now and still able to get the points in areas where my Tyrian and Canthan characters cannot. I just hope they fix this soon so my Elementalist can get further along than Casstalian.

Unsure if this works.. but what if you got to R8 doing only the quests that are absolutely necessary.. would the quest rewards get you to R9?
